The best International Restaurant

This was a project that we did for the English class. It consisted in research info about the nutrition, diet and recipes of different countries in the world that we had to choose and then cook a recipe for the restaurant that we opened in class.

First we had to look for the information about the diet of the country chosen and do a fact file about it with all the characteristics and traditions. The objective was to decide if it was a balance diet or not and write two traditional recipes of the country. My country was Indonesia and the recipes were Opor Solo and Crab soup.
Then, when we all finished the research, we worked in groups. In my group we were 6 people, María, Andrea, Sonia, Nacho, Miguel Ángel and me. We changed information about our different countries like the fact file, the diets and the recipes. Finally we agree in the two more interesting countries that were England and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The best recipes of these countries were Fairy Cakes (England) and Kuku Paka (Congo).

The power point was about one country, so we chose England. We spoke about all the research that we did, the nutritional values of the recipe, how we cooked and why we chose the country. At first Sonia and me had to do the presentation, but finally we recorded our recipe, passed the video to Andrea and she did all the presentation.

The video experience was the best. We divided the group into two parts because we were a lot of people to cook in one kitchen. In my part we were Sonia, Miguel Ángel and me and in the other part were Andrea, María and Nacho. We cooked Fairy Cakes in Sonia's house and we had a lot of fun. All of us did a different part of the recipe explaning it while other person was recording him. The recipe was easy to do and when we finished we tried and it was very good. I think this was the best part of the project because we had to work together a lot, so we know each other a little bit more and have fun.

For me it was a very good experience because we learn a lot about other countries traditions, how to interpret a recipe in english, how to work in groups and we tried a lot of new food and almost all of it was very good.
